On May 9, 2026, Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg opened its doors for this year's Study Information Day. Numerous prospective students took the opportunity to explore the campus, learn about the university's degree programs, and gain a first impression of student life at OVGU. The robOTTO team was also part of the event.
At the team's booth and laboratory, visitors were able to gain insight into the work of OVGU's robotics team. In addition to information about current projects, the focus was on engaging with interested visitors and sharing enthusiasm for technology and robotics. Many pupils and prospective students took the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how theoretical knowledge from university courses can be applied in practical projects.
It was particularly encouraging to see the strong interest in the autonomous robots developed by robOTTO and the wide range of responsibilities within the team. From mechanical design and electronics to software development and project management, visitors were able to see how interdisciplinary the work in a student robotics team can be. The event also demonstrated how students can actively participate in challenging technical projects during their studies and gain valuable hands-on experience.
For the robOTTO team, the Study Information Day also provided an excellent opportunity to connect with potential future students and demonstrate how academic knowledge can be applied in practical projects beyond regular coursework.
The many interesting conversations and the positive feedback from visitors made the event a complete success.
