Thanks to pib.rocks for our OTTO

09.04.2026 -

The robOTTO team at Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg stands for creative and interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as a passion for not only studying robotics but actively shaping it.

For this purpose, the team received a new robot from pib.rocks as a kit in the form of the pib.Edubox.

Over an intensive four-day printing process, the mechanical basic frame of the robot was created in 24/7 operation. More than 6 kg of filament were processed using seven 3D printers running in parallel.

With the support of several team members, Netz39 and a committed alumnus, a humanoid robot with a head, arms, and five fingers per hand gradually emerged from numerous individual components.

The next milestone followed at the hackathon hosted by isento GmbH in Nuremberg. There, the robot was finally assembled from a variety of motors and 3D-printed parts.

During the event, it received its name: OTTO.

Thank you!

A heartfelt thank you goes to all supporters, and especially to pib.rocks for the sponsorship!
