Smart Manufacturing Liga

Robot 'Euler' at the German Open 2026 participating in the Smart Manufacturing League

We are participating in the RoboCup Smart Manufacturing League, which focuses on agile manufacturing and automated assembly. The Smart Manufacturing League was launched in 2026 as a merger of the @Work and Logistics leagues. Imagine a toy factory where robots work together to build, transport, and recycle colorful products made from building blocks. The new Smart Manufacturing League combines three essential tasks: warehouse work (navigating and transporting materials), assembly work (stacking and combining blocks), and planning & coordination (organizing tasks and managing multiple robots). Instead of the old mass-production model, this competition focuses on on-demand manufacturing—making exactly what customers order, when they order it, and recycling products when returned.

Competition

The competition is designed to be inclusive and flexible, with multiple difficulty levels from beginner to expert so new teams can start simple and progress gradually. Teams can specialize in one or all three areas, collaborate with other teams, use human assistance, or combine their robots with others' systems—whatever works best for their research goals. At its core, the SML is a benchmarking framework that pushes robotics research toward solving real manufacturing problems while keeping participation affordable and accessible for student teams worldwide.
