School Project Days 2026 with Team robOTTO – Experiencing Robotics

24.06.2026 -

As part of the School Project Days at the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, the robOTTO team offered students exciting insights into the world of robotics. The aim of the event was to make science tangible and to create a meaningful connection between school and university.

The focus was on the team’s robots: Euler and OTTO. Using these two platforms, it was demonstrated how modern robotics works – from programming and sensor systems to autonomous movement.

The participants were divided into two groups. While one group was able to make the humanoid robot OTTO pose, the second group gained insights into controlling a robotic arm using a demo arm setup.

Afterwards, the groups switched, allowing all students to experience both program parts.

The School Project Days showed how closely school education and university research can be interconnected. Through direct contact with students and researchers, participants not only gained technical knowledge but also an authentic impression of studying and working at a university.

Robotics is an interdisciplinary field that combines computer science, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. This diversity makes it an exciting entry point into STEM subjects and opens up perspectives for further studies and careers.
